The Orange County Taxpayers Association has gone on the record of opposing any split-roll property tax proposal. We have also been a member of a statewide coalition that has opposed AB 2374 (Ammiano) which seeks to impose a split roll by triggering more frequent reassessments of property owned by legal entities. Recently the author has agreed to take substantial amendments that seem to have satisfied the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association as well as many of the large property owners that have had concerns. OCTax is reviewing amendments, as is CalTax to see what the actual impact could be on our local business community. AB 2374 is a two-thirds vote bill and recently passed the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee and will be heard next in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
