Legislature’s Top Proposed Tax Increases
Sacramento has already introduced its top proposals to raise taxes as an attempt to balance the state’s budget which is currently $16 billion out of alignment. And Property Owners are the biggest targets on the chopping block. The following proposals are currently being considered.
· Split Roll Taxes for business owners ($3—$7 billion) · Raising the Car Tax ($6 billion) · Eliminating the Mortgage Interest Deduction ($5 billion) · State Run Health Care ($8 billion) · Tax on Internet Sales ($500 million) · Increased Sales Tax
California’s Income has increased dramatically over the past 5 years. However the state has met that growth with spending that outpaces income by several billion each year.
