Purpose

OCTaxPAC is sponsored by, but is a separate organization from, OCTax. It's mission is to help ensure that taxes and tax-supported programs are fair, understandable, cost-effective, and good for the economy.  OCTaxPAC raises funds for this purpose.  Donations to OCTaxPAC will be accepted from all entities, at the discretion of the OCTaxPAC Board of Directors.

OCTaxPAC will endorse and/or make campaign contributions to candidates for public office (without regard to party affiliation) who, by their acts in or out of public office, demonstrate that they share OCTaxPAC’s commitment to ensuring that taxes and tax-supported programs are fair, understandable, cost-effective, and good for the economy.

Focus

OCTaxPAC will focus on countywide candidate races, with consideration of state and local races that have special impact on Orange County taxpayers.

Orange County Taxpayers Association Voter Guide

Prior to each major election, OCTaxPAC will publish the Orange County Taxpayers Association Voter Guide, in which the organization will recommend candidates that share OCTaxPAC’s conviction that taxes and tax-supported programs should be fair, understandable, cost effective, and good for the economy.  The Voter Guide also may include recommendations on local and state ballot propositions.

Unlike many so-called “slate mailers,” which deliberately sell their endorsements to the highest bidders among candidates or issues, the Orange County Taxpayers Association Voter Guide will not accept advertising from candidates or issues with whom OCTaxPAC disagrees.  OCTaxPAC first identifies candidates and issues that meet OCTaxPAC’s standards (fair, understandable, cost effective and good for the economy), then offers space in the Voter Guide only to them.
